Thermography

"Power Through Knowledge"

Scanel offers and executes thermography for preventative maintenance purposes. Thermographic cameras only register the infrared spectrum which indicates heat. Thus, on IR pictures it is possible to observe temperature differences as well as surface temperature. This is ideal for preventative maintenance purposes, as a fault often results in extra heat being given off, and thus it can be traced with an IR camera before it leads to a process breakdown.
We provide our thermography service worldwide.

Exambles on areas, where we provide our thermography services:

  • Switchboards & terminalboards
  • Electric motors
  • Generators
  • Process machinery
  • Electrical connections in general
  • Insulated pipe systems (Heating, exhaust, steam, thermal oil, electric heating, etc)

Thermography – a perfect tool
Scanel is ITC-certified (Infrared Training Center). This guarantees that our technicians are familiar with the qualitative requirements which must be met to present a diagnosis based on an analysis of infrared photographs.

Thermography can be used to trace faults before shutdown occurs, for example in machines, production plant and electrical terminal boards. Furthermore, infrared photography can be used to pinpoint inadequate insulation in ceilings / structures and on pipes.

Scanel possesses considerable experience with “hot spot” thermography in engine rooms. According to SOLAS Chapter II-2 Reg. 15.2.10 and 15.2.12 it is required, that surfaces that reach a temperature in excess of 220º C must be insulated. By conducting a thermographic inspection of engines, boilers, exhaust systems etc., it is possible to identify areas with inadequate insulation.

Scanel submits a detailed report, sometimes designed together with the customer, in printed and electronic versions and with digital and infrared photographs.
