ProCon Group acquires wind business from Scanel International A/S
Claus Søgaard Poulsen, former CEO of Scanel International A/S, has just entered into an agreement to take over Scanel's wind business The goal is to double both revenue and number of employees within a few years.
From 2014 to 2018, Claus Søgaard Poulsen was the CEO of Scanel International A/S. During this period he developed an offshore wind business, which today is the largest in the market for transition pieces - the so-called TPs, which contain the technical installations that connect the wind generator to the electricity grid via underwatere cables. The offshore wind specialists handle everything from design and installation to service and maintenance.
CEO and owner of ProCon, Claus Søgaard Poulsen, has great expectations for Scanel's wind business, which he has just acquired. He sees a solid business with great growth potential, which he will continue to develop under the name ProCon Wind Energy A/S.
Plans for growth
"We have a solid foundation for growth: The owners behind ProCon are solid founded, and there is already a strong business foundation, which we can build on", Claus Søgaard Poulsen states.
The objective for ProCon Wind Energy and the offshore wind business is to double both revenue and number of employees within the next three years.
New business area
“Adding offshore wind as a new business area at ProCon strengthens the company's position as an electrical engineering specialist in selected core business areas and adds 50 employees to the staff”, says Claus Søgaard Poulsen.
“In the takeover, all activities and employees are included, meaning we are welcoming experienced, competent and highly skilled employees on board. Scanel offshore wind has developed significantly in recent years, and the customer portfolio includes a number of domestic and foreign customers”, says Claus Søgaard Poulsen, continuing:
"It is a great pleasure and exciting that I, together with well-known employees, now have the opportunity to resume the development of the business area that I was a part of from 2014-2018," says Claus Søgaard Poulsen about the acquisition.
Back to the core business
About the divestment, the two CEO’s and owners of Scanel International A/S say:
"The divestment of the wind business is based on a desire to return to our roots of the marine, shipping and oil industries," says Palle Thordal Lavrsen, and Ole Thue Hansen adds:
“It is not our core business to work within the wind industry. Therefore, we are no longer the best owners. The wind activities are better served by a new owner who can exploit the growth potential and will develop the business area going forward".
Both the owners of Scanel International A/S and Claus Søgaard Poulsen from ProCon look forward to collaborating closely on joint customer relations.
The change in ownership is effective 1 February 2019. From now on, the wind business will operate under the name ProCon Wind Energy A/S with domestic branches in Aalborg, Aarhus and Esbjerg, as well as subsidiaries and representation in Poland, Germany, England, Taiwan and the USA.
